Faculty Questions About Teaching with Two-way Video

Not a question, but a suggestion from Becky White (Nursing)...

I have students email me a picture (for some extra credit points) so I can see what they look like. Most have been compliant with this request, and it helps build rapport between me and the far students.

Is it possible for an instructor to control the far site camera?

Depending on how the system is programmed, this is possible. On the Video Call Control panel (AMX Touch Screen), there is a Far button. Press this button and then use the arrow keys on the touch screen to pan the camera. The Zoom + and - also control the camera. To regain control of the camera at your location, press the Near button on the control panel.

Who do I call when I need help with the technology during a two-way course?

The first place to call for help on the Fort Wayne campus would be the CELT staff dedicated to two-way video support: Lee Peitzman and Saw Kapaw. Saw can be reached at 260-481-6185, and Lee's direct extension is 260-481-6524. If they are not available, instructors can call our Two-Way Video support desk at Sensory Technologies in Indianapolis. The toll free number is: 800-488-4336. For additional assistance, contact Jenny Shilling, two-way video program assistant in Continuing Studies at 260-481-6267.
